2025 Dardanup Heritage Display – Clothing of the Past

On November 16, 2025, the Dardanup Heritage Collective put together a display of “Clothing of the Past” at the Thomas Little Hall in Dardanup.  This was one the community could really get their teeth into and some quaint and quirky items of clothing past made their re-appearance!  Thanks to everyone who contributed and visited on the day.

The focus was on wedding clothing with the 1883 wedding dress of Amelia Fowler (nee Gibbs), when she married John Charlton Fowler, being the earliest piece in the display. There we many items from throughout the entire 20th century and some wonderful “mother-in-law” outfits to accompany them.

A second theme of the day was a display of uniforms from the now closed State Schools at Waterloo, Dardanup, Wellington Mills and Ferguson. These four schools closed in 1971 and merged to form the Dardanup Primary School.

Photographs from early Dardanup and Waterloo weddings also featured, as did some early 20th Century items of children’s clothing.
